It's Friday night and I can't stop thinking about Smytty. I looked at him in that coffin and see him as he was. I was thinking he was going to open his eyes and say "I got you!" All of us have a special bond with each other. Uncle Rich, Rotten, Tommy, Mark & me on the horses started it all and were all successful because of it. Smytty stepped up when we couldn't go any further in our work and got us into the Union. That changed it from a job to a career with benefits and a pension that I still live on today. I met him when I was 17, my cousin lived 2 doors away as a kid, they became best friends and that lasted a lifetime until his death a few years ago. Smytty and I were reconnected and grew closer still, we vowed to keep an eye on my cousin's girls. We have certain people in our lives that connect us with others, Smytty was that guy. The camp site days were so special to me with Smytty, Hocker, Lentz, Jay Brennan and Fish and their families. Before I had nieces and nephews of my own those kids were my family, they are very special to me and I love them more than they will even know. Then a new round of us had kids, we wanted to continue the campsite tradition but life got in the way. We made it a point to stay in touch and we did and Smytty always had time for all of us. Last month we went to see him and he opened his home to us like always. I've spent the weekend reflecting on this special man and not enough can be said. Im not telling you anything you don't already know, I just had to say it for myself.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

My heart breaks for Nancy and for all of uncle smyttys family and friends. I have many memories with my sisters up in New York and camping. He’s the reason I got to meet dan Marino. He was always such a caring, hilarious, and loyal friend to my family. I know he was more like a brother to my dad and he will never be the same losing such an important person in his life. I’m lucky to have known him and my last time seeing him I’m glad I got to give him a big hug. He will forever be missed. Love you uncle smytty

This is a very sad time in my life. It is like looseing a Brother I met Mark when I was 9 years old I thought he was really cool with all that blonde wavy hair. His brother Tom was our paper boy these days in Whitman square will be a part of life I will never forget a few years later those two brave men went off to viet Nam to serve there country. Mark aautillary marine Tom a army helicopter. Soldier. It would end up that Tom was in the same area as mark where he had to get permission to visit Mark. That tragic next day mark was severely injured in a battle several soldiers in his platoon were killed. Mark was half conscious and says to Tom what’s mom going to say. After numerous surgeries mark came home. I still can remember him walking on two crutches you will never see anything like this ever. He was a great friend a mentor a teacher a big time reader we went on to have several back packing trips with all our tight knit group. And wonderful times at mark and Nancy’s house in the finger lakes I am so happy to have him as a friend thru my whole life. Love you Buddy see you somewhere
