Mario “Matt” F. DiTanno Sr., age 73, of Washington Twp., passed away on Sunday, October 24, 2021. Beloved husband of Susan J. (née Phillips). Devoted father of Mario DiTanno Jr. (Beth) and Laura DiTanno. Loving grandfather of Alexis Lynn and Nicholas Andrew. Dear brother of Gloria Domino (Andrew) and the late Anita Brown. Beloved godfather of Donna O’Brien and Denise Snyder. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Mario grew up in North Philadelphia where he attended Roman Catholic High School Class of 1966 and enjoyed playing the drums in the schools marching band. He worked as an electrical designer at Jacob’s (Kling Lindquist) for 44 years. He was also a member of the Uptown String Band for many years and played drums for the musical group “The Chancellor’s”.
Mario met his wife, Susan, at a wedding where he caught the garter and Susan caught the bouquet. It was love at first sight. They were married in 1972 and resided in Upper Darby until they moved to Washington Twp., N.J. in 1977. It was there that they raised their two children.
Mario was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church where he led the group “Men with a Mission” and accompanied “Hymns of Praise” on the drums.
Mario will be remembered by all as a wonderful husband, great Dad and Grandfather and a good friend.
Family and friends are invited to attend his “Celebration of Life” on Thursday, November 4th. Visitation 10:00 am – 12:00 pm. with the service at 12:00 pm at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 149 Ganttown Rd. Washington Twp.
