Marie Elena Russo

On January 29, 2026, of Woolwich Twp. Age 81. Beloved wife of Raymond. Devoted mother of Michele Garcia (John), and Ray Russo (Leonora). Loving grandmother of Zachary, Morgan, Rayann, and Evan. Dear sister of Bernadette Valentine, Gloria Gehr, Peter Giannone, and Ruth Novelli.

Marie Russo (Giannone) was more than a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt or friend – She was far more than those titles we know her to be. Her home was always open, a place where laughter was constant and everyone felt welcome. Friends and family knew they could confide in her, seek her guidance, or simply feel cared for, knowing Marie would listen without Judgement and love without conditions. Family was the center of her world, and she had a true gift for entertainment. If there was a party, Marie was surely the heart of it; bringing people together with warmth, joy and her unmistaken presence. There was never a family party that didn’t include the questions where’s Marie, where’s your mother, where’s your sister Marie or where is aunt Marie. Just another example of her magnetic personality. She treasured time spent with her grandchildren, always wanting to know how they are doing daily. Known for her occasional gin and tonic when out to dinner, Marie cherished the simple ritual of a daily glass of Chardonnay enjoyed alongside her beloved husband of 58 years and her 2 children. A small tradition that reflected her love for togetherness and life’s simple pleasures.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation Wednesday 10:00 – 11:00 am at St. Clare of Assisi Parish, 140 Broad Street, Swedesboro, NJ 08085. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am.
