Margaret Lefferts Anderson, (nee Hilgendorff) age 98, formerly of New Providence, NJ, died peacefully on August 21, 2014, in Sewell, NJ.
Born in Elizabeth, NJ, May 11, 1916, she was the daughter of William R. and May (Reynolds) Hilgendorff. She was an honors graduate of the New Jersey College for Women (now Douglass College) where she earned a degree in Library Science. Her interests included reading, history, travel, sewing and embroidery. She was also an avid crossword puzzle fan as well as an advocate for animals, especially dogs. Margaret was also a volunteer for the American Red Cross for more than 25 years.

She was pre-deceased by her first husband, Robert Wilber Lefferts, in 1971 and by her second husband, H. Milton Anderson, in 2009. She is survived by her son Robert E. Lefferts and his wife Jane of Turnersville, NJ, her daughter Karen R. Finch of Bellingham, MA, granddaughters Julie A. Lefferts, Meghan B. Waryasz and her husband Michael, grandson Brian R. Lefferts and his wife Kit and two great-granddaughters, Jessica and Amanda Lefferts and several nieces and nephews. She was also the sister of William R. Hilgendorff and the late May E. Kopf. Also step children Margaret A. Gwynne, Mark S. Anderson, Ellen W. Anderson and Paul C. Anderson.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her memorial service on Saturday, September 6th at 11:00 am at the New Providence United Methodist Church, 1441 Springfield Ave., New Providence, NJ. Interment St. Francis Garden of Remembrance located at the St. Andrews Episcopal Church, 419 South St., New Providence, NJ.
