Marcella M. Montague (nee Simonson), on October 12, 2016, of Washington Twp., formerly of Deptford. Age 91. Beloved wife of the late Raymond. Devoted mother of Lorraine Barbara (the late Leon), Raymond (Maribeth), John (Mary Kay) and Gregory (Dory). Loving grandmother of 12. Proud great-grandmother of 14. Dear sister of Clare Logue and the late Daniel Simonson.
Marcella Montague was born in 1925, the daughter of Daniel and Marie Simonson. She is the sister of Clare Logue and the late Daniel Simonson.
Marcella was raised in the Catholic faith, and was a proud graduate of Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls.
Subsequent to High School, Marcella worked for Signal Corp during World War II.
She married Ray Montague after the war, and in 1947 gave birth to Lorraine. She subsequently had three boys, Ray, John and Greg.
In 1956 the family moved to Deptford, New Jersey. Marcella was soon immersed in her role as mother to her four children, as well as becoming a Charter member of Most Holy Redeemer parish, where she performed many duties, including PTA and cooking for Bingo.
Later, Marcella became involved with Gloucester Catholic High School, following her children through their years there. Marcella enjoyed watching her children as they played sports, cheered, and became great students.
When her children later married and had children, Marcella enjoyed nothing more than watching her grandchildren playing sports, often traveling to far-away places to see their games.
Marcella loved being with her family, and eventually became a Great Grandmother.
Marcella has four children, twelve Grandchildren ( Daniel, Christine, Gary, James, Jonathan, Adam, Meghan, John, Lauren, Gregory, Matthew and Joshua). She also has fourteen Great-Grandchildren (Brooklyn, Tori, Trevor, Dylan, Tanner, Sadie, Penelope, Donovan, Sydney, Brandon, Madden, Christopher, Alexis and Kelly).
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her visitation Monday 8:30 – 10:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 10:30 AM at SS. Peter & Paul RC Church, Washington Twp. Interment Eglington Cemetery, Clarksboro.
