Madeline Anna DeFeo (nee DeVecchis), of the Terraces at Parke Place, formerly of Whitman Square in Washington Township, passed away peacefully on April 21, 2023. Aunt Madeline or Aunt Maddie, as she was known to so many of her adoring nieces and nephews as well as those greats and great-greats, was born to Andrea & Angelina DeVecchis, and grew up on Percy Street in South Philadelphia. There she built loving relationships with her sister & brothers, Mary, Frank, Gaetano, Ed and Attilio, that would last throughout their lives. Madeline was also blessed with a large community of cousins, among which was Giovanna Cavaliere, a truly devoted friend with whom she remained especially close.
In 1963, Madeline married Angelo DeFeo. Their family fondly remembers many happy holidays, including the annual Feast of the Seven Fishes, spent at their home. Madeline & Angelo enjoyed their regular trips to the casinos in Atlantic City where they made many close friends.
Madeline was as devoted to God as she was to her family, and for more than forty years she worshipped faithfully with the Catholic community of Saint Charles Borromeo Parish. She will be greatly missed but remembered fondly for her gentle spirit, unfailing kindness and youthful innocence.
Family and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday 10:00 – 11:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, 176 Stagecoach Rd., Sicklerville (Washington Twp.), NJ 08081. Mass of Christian Burial 11:15. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Cemetery, Williamstown.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Madeline’s memory may be made to St. Charles Borromeo Church at the above address or by clicking on the link then go to Parish Collections and then select Memorial and in memo put Madeline DeFeo.
