On Sunday, September 8, 2019 of Oceanview, NJ, age 77, went home with our Lord after a long battle with heart and kidney disease. Devoted mother of Michael J. Strippoli, Sr. (wife Shirley) and Lisa Lorraine Strippoli (fiancé Bob Belins); loving grandmother of Michael J. Strippoli, Jr. and Samuel N. Strippoli; dear sister of Catherine DelVechhio , Margaret Abbott , the late Samuel Pelle, Jr. and her “much loved” cat, Sammy. Also, survived by her aunt, Lillian Vitarelli, many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.
Lorraine was born and raised in Camden, NJ under the Roman Catholic Church. She attended Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and commercial school in the 1950’s; she worked as a retail clerk at A&P Supermarket in the early 70’s as well as Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital then RCA/General Electric in the 80’s. She moved to Oceanview in the 90’s and continued her employment at Bernadette Tomlin Memorial Hospital. She then finished her career, at age 72, retiring from SuperFresh on 9th St. in Ocean City, NJ.
She was a dedicated Philadelphia Eagles fan and enjoyed her trips to Trump Plaza Casino which lead to her becoming a stout Donald Trump supporter.
She was loyal to her father by taking care of him until his passing. She was supportive of her family, friends and work colleagues by making them laugh and feel good about themselves. She was liked by many. She was witty but sassy and to the point by counselling you with her advice, always having your best interest at heart. Her favorite color was red. She liked cute, cuddly animals including her feline companions.
Her favorite flowers were gardenias, roses and sunflowers.
She enjoyed listening to her favorite music artists from the 60’s and 70’s including Englebert Humperdinck, Tom Jones, Frank Sinatra, etc.
She was fond of watching Turner Classic movies, Forensic Files, the Kardashians, Housewives of ….“everywhere” and all types of cartoons, especially Tweetie bird.
She took pleasure in going to the boardwalk to people watch, sneaking off with her son to her favorite restaurant, Offshore Ventura’s, eating her sweets and getting her mani-pedis with her daughter.
Her famous line was “Don’t get mad at me but ……”
Relatives and friends are invited to her visitation on Saturday, September 28th from 10:00 – 11:00 am at Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Turnersville, NJ 08012. Funeral Service 11:00 am.
