Loretta M. “Rett” Rosser, age 91, died suddenly on January. 28, 2017.
Beloved wife of the late John L Rosser for 49 years She is survived by two children, David J. Rosser his wife Jeanne D. Rosser and Kathleen (Kathy) Wise. Her Beloved Sister Roseann Pillar; 3 grandchildren ,Autmn Glover Christopher D. Rosser and Juliane K. Rosser. 5 great grandchildren Hailee, Allyson, Gavin, Carter Rosser and Ryker Ryan. Born April 18th, 1925 to Harry and Emma McDonald in Philadelphia Pa. Loretta belong to a family of 5 including Brother James and Sisters Kass, Micky and Roseann. Growing up during the depression was difficult but due to very strong family bonds the family discovered creative means to deal with the difficult times. From picking vegetables to becoming a seamstress she wanted to help contribute to the benefit of the family. At the beginning of WWII she needed to be as involved as possible and quickly found a job manufacturing fire hose for the military. After the war she became a waitress at Buck Hill Falls Inn where she worked and lived and met her soon to be husband John Rosser who also worked at the inn. Married in October 1946. After John received an opportunity of employment with Greyhound in Washington DC John and Loretta found themselves relocating, Occasionally hosting several family members they took to their new home quickly and soon enjoyed the arrival of their first child they named Kathleen. Loretta worked at several prestigious restaurants including the Ambassador Hotel as well as the Roadhouse Inn allowing her the opportunity of meeting many important people of the day. One story she very much enjoyed was her waiting on Jerry Lee Lewis who asked her “Could You Please Pass the “Woor Chester Shire Sauce Mam”. In Short order John and Loretta had a son to complete the family. The new addition required moving, soon finding a new life in Bladensburg Maryland where the family lived until 1967 when everyone returned to Turnersville NJ literally minutes from her mother, father, sisters and brother. She continued with her profession at the Hawaiian Cottage in Cherry Hill working there until the restaurant caught fire. She soon found work as a mixologist at James Place in Blackwood, a job she enjoyed for many years. Slowly the children graduated and moved on. She changed jobs to something she learned many years before becoming a seamstress working at several places in Williamstown. After many years retiring to help her husband who suffered from complications of Diabetes. Loretta and John deeply enjoyed eating and travel. No distance too far travelling to the West Coast to visit family and many points between. Loretta was extremely devoted to her church her entire life. Never missing Sunday Mass or any church occasion. In later years she was deeply involved with the Catholic Daughters and did her best at making sure anyone from the community could always count on her to provide transportation. One of her favorite possessions was a rosary brought back from the Vatican blessed by the pope. She was always a devoted daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt and friend her entire life. Her favorite saying was “I love my family”. The world is now a lesser place with her not in it.
Viewing will be Thursday 9-11am at EGIZI FUNERAL HOME 119 Ganttown Rd, Turnersville, NJ 08012 where service will begin at 11am. Internment will be at Hillcrest Memorial Park, Sewell, NJ
