Linda Carol Wettstein (Kugler) joined her loving Husband Donald, on the morning of July 20, 2023, thirty-one days after his passing. She told everyone that she had lived a full life and was ready.
Linda was born to Rebecca & Russell Kugler on March 25, 1950. She was raised on her parent’s and grandparent’s farm in Aura, NJ until her teens, then moved with them to the “Ridge” in Glassboro. She loved being a farm girl. She was an only child, but had cousins that were more like siblings that she would visit every Sunday in Millville.
Linda graduated from Glassboro HS in 1968. She was a majorette in the Marching Band and went to Nationals as a teenager for baton twirling. During the summers, she would spend a lot of time at the shore, on the Steele Pier and seeing bands perform with her Cousin, Cathy Griner. Linda and her cousins also spent time at Riverview Park, a popular place when she was little.
Linda worked at Prudential in Millville, before being set up on a blind date with Don, whom she shared a Birthday with, but were born in different years. They married on August 4th, 1973 and she became a stepmom to Bryan Wettstein. They had a daughter, Sherry Lynn (Paul Heil) three years later. They would have been celebrating 50 years of not killing each other in a couple of weeks.
Linda was a stay-at-home Mom, who taught Baton Twirling lessons to many students over the years and was a 4-H leader as well. She loved teaching kids and attending all the parades with them. She also was an Avon Representative in town.
Linda loved Wildwood and the history behind the shore towns. She hated the heat, so she would enjoy them during the colder months, riding the tram car. Linda and Don would often visit the Lobster House in Cape May, as well as her favorite lighthouse and the Cement Boat at Sunset Beach.
Linda was an avid reader. She especially loved the Stephanie Plum series and Biographies. On Sundays she could be heard cheering on her beloved Minnesota Vikings or watching Nascar with Don. Her favorite drivers were Martin Truex and Jeff Gordon. She became a Flyers fan in the 1990s and watched them through the good, bad & ugly times. She also loved going out to lunch or going out to eat with Don. She loved taking pictures and Disney, which she passed her love of both to her daughter.
Linda’s favorite thing on earth was her family. Don and Linda would host the entire Wettstein family for Thanksgiving for years. She loved being a Mom and Grandmom to Christian & Carter Heil. When she was able to get around better, she never missed anything. Concerts, plays, recitals, games…she was their biggest fan. Every single month, from the time the boys were born, she would write them a postcard telling them what they had been up to during that time. She also kept a book of every funny thing they ever did. She had a fantastic sense of humor that was passed down from her mother. Linda was also the proud grandmother of Mallory & Will Canale and great-grandmother to Vincent Canale.
Linda and Don chose not to have services and will be grieved privately by family.
In lieu of flowers, she would have loved to support her grandsons, one last time. Donations can be made in her name to WTHSM.(Washington Township High School Marching Band) Donations can be mailed to: Washington Township High School Minuteman Band Boosters, Inc., 529 Hurfville Crosskeys Rd., Sewell, NJ 08080.
