Leocadia B. Donarovich “Lee Donar”
(nee Zemaitis) On November 11, 2021. Age 100. Beloved wife of the late Frank J. Devoted mother of Mary Elizabeth Reale (Dr. Martin) and David F. Donar (Denise) and loving grandmother of Curtis Donar and Michelle Donar. Dear sister of the late Fr. Vyto Zemaitis and Sister Elizabeth Zemaitis. Also survived by loving nieces and nephews.
Lee lived many years in Lansdowne, PA prior to making her home in Washington Township, NJ. Born in Scranton, PA, she graduated from Holy Rosary High School and then Marywood College in the early 1940’s. While in college, she was active with the Lithuanian Catholic Alliance, a fraternal insurance company; after dedicated membership in this organization for many years, she was later elected their National Treasurer. Her first position after college was education, teaching at Patterson Park Junior High School in Baltimore. During World War II, she returned to Scranton and worked at the Tobyhanna Air Force Base. She later recalled the many sad times in sending young men to war time along with great joy at welcoming them home. At the time that the Air Force Base closed, Lee accepted a position at the Internal Revenue Service in Scranton and worked there until her marriage to Frank.
Marriage prompted relocation in 1954 to the Philadelphia area. Work at home with two children became her priority until 1977 when she joined the staff of Villanova University in the Department of Athletics. First working as an agent in the Athletic Ticket Office, Lee was later appointed Athletic Ticket Manager. She became an avid Villanova sports fan with a special passion for Villanova basketball. She was especially dedicated to making it possible, through tickets, for others to enjoy the athletic talent of the young men and women athletes who became an important part of her life. She enjoyed this work until her retirement to care for her husband Frank and relocate to New Jersey. In retirement, she attended all Villanova basketball home games.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Wednesday 7:00 – 9:00 PM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial Thursday 10:00 AM at the Church of The Holy Family, 226 Hurffville Rd., Washington Twp. Interment St. Catherine’s Cemetery, Moscow, PA.
