June spent her youth basking in the sun at Sunset Beach in Almonesson. She later met her soulmate Jimmy at the Glendora roller rink. They married in 1956 and shared 44 years together until Jimmy’s passing in 2000. They are now reunited, along with their son Glenn.
June loved sharing her life with Jimmy, her sons Glenn and Ken, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, her extended family, and the countless friends she was blessed with throughout the course of her life. June loved her friends and family unconditionally, and once you were in her circle you were going to be spoiled and pampered.
If you were lucky enough to spend a holiday or a celebration at June’s, you knew you were in for treat, as the food would be plentiful and delicious. June was a fantastic cook, and her rice pudding is famous throughout Gloucester County and beyond.
June enjoyed traveling, but her heart was always in Sea Isle City. The many summers shared there with her family and friends brought her limitless happy memories.
June was the “Queen” and matriarch of the Atkinson family, and touched everyone who knew her with her warmth and generosity. It was impossible not to love her, and she will be missed forever.
