Joesph Coltellaro, better known to many as Gennie, Dad, Grandpa, Poppy, Pop, Joey Bag of Doughnuts, JJ, Mr. C, and last by not least Mr. Schmultz. Joe lived a lifetime devoted to family, a family he and his wife Evelyn started in 1956. Together they built a foundation to what we now call the Coltellaro clan, a group of 11 children, 27 grandchildren, and 1 great-grandson. Joe would most commonly be found right in the middle of the chaos of any large family gathering. He loved seeing all his family together and happy. When not with his family Joe could be seen cruising around town on his bike, frequently numerous banks, grocery stores, bakeries, and restaurants. Joe’s generosity, sincerity, and his appreciation of life’s simple joys made him a man that people respect, love, and will greatly miss.
On October 5th 2012, Joe sadly lost his battle due to complications from the West Nile Virus. For 7 weeks the doctors tried to save his life, his family was by his side 24/7 making sure he got the best care available. He will truly be missed by his large family and hundreds of friends. I’m sure he is with Evelyn now looking down on all of us and saying to each other, “We did a good job while we were down there.”
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Monday 7:00 – 9:00 pm and Tuesday 10:15 – 11:15 am at the Church of the Holy Family, 226 Hurffville Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11:30 am. At the family’s request, the interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joseph’s memory to Vitas Hospice, 18 East Laurel Road, Stratford, NJ 08084. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.egizifuneral.com
