On December 4, 2016, of Washington Twp. Age 81. Beloved husband of Virginia (nee Caampued). Loving father of Maria Lucienne Magana, Jose Enrique Magana (Laurie), Jose Rommel Magana, Eleazar Caampued Magana, Jenina Inez Cooper (David), Romina Marie Magana (Steven Nichols) and Joanna Tanya Magana. Devoted grandfather of Maria Nicole, Joseph Michael, Cierra Jade, Ryleigh Nina, Amanda Lynne, Brianna Marie, Chad Lucas and Kai David. Caring great-grandfather of Marisa Grayce and Olivia Chayce. Dear brother of Lea Andrade, Eden Axelrod, Teresita Brooks, Nancy Magana, Romy Magana and the late Lorrie Refugio and Guillermo Magana, Jr.
Joe immigrated to the U.S. from Philippines in 1970 to provide ample opportunities for his family. He was soon joined by his wife Virgie and eventually by their seven children.
His first job was with the Board of Education of Philadelphia, retired from Boeing after more than a decade of service as a Computer Systems Analyst. He was a proactive member of the Filipino community, establishing the Delaware Valley Association of Pilipinos (DVAP). He was a member of the Philippine Community of Southern New Jersey (PCSNJ) where he served as president from 1998-2000. He was also co-founder and president of the Filipino Executive Council of Greater Philadelphia (FECGP).
Joe was a long time, active member of the Church of the Holy Family in Washington Township. There he served in the Pastoral Council, once headmaster of the Two Hearts prayer group, Eucharistic Minister, greeter, and sang bass in the Church Choir. He was also an active member in the Diocesan Choir of Camden for many years.
Joe was blessed with a green thumb and was in his glory kneeling in the grass with his hands in the dirt creating and maintaining masterpiece gardens, leaving all who observed in awe of his gift.
Joe lived a fruitful life and will be not only remembered for his many accomplishments but more importantly his relations with the Lord and everyone who was fortunate to be part of the journey that was his Life.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday 7:00 -9:00 pm at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd. Washington Twp. and Saturday 9:30 – 10:30 am at The Church of the Holy Family, 226 Hurffville Rd., Washington Twp.
