Jonathan P. Dunn
On October 27, 2024, of Washington Twp. Age 40. Devoted father of Cecilia Robin Dunn, Montgomery Bishop Dunn, and Franklin Henle Dunn. Beloved son of John and Marianne (nee D’Intino) Dunn. Dear brother of Zachary Dunn (Nicole) and Lia Dunn. Loving uncle of Quenton Dunn. Loved by many aunts, uncles, cousins, teammates, and close friends. Survived by his furry companion Rambo. Reunited with his best friend Rudy.
Jonathan was born on February 23, 1984 in Philadelphia and passed away October 27, 2024 in Washington Twp, at 40 years old. He graduated from Washington Twp. High School in 2002, where he earned two varsity letters as an offensive tackle and defensive tackle for Coach Tom Brown. He earned the “1st team All Olympic Conference” and “All Group 4” as a senior. He was also varsity lettered in basketball as a power forward and center.
He then went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology from Monmouth University in 2008. In his first year, Jonathan committed to MU with special permission to deferred enrollment until Fall 2003. After redshirting his Freshman Season, he started at Left Guard from Sophomore through Senior Year. His most memorable achievements with the Hawks were being named 1st Team-All Conference (NEC) both his Junior and Senior sessions; being recognized his Senior Year as Team Captain as well as earning 1st Team Selection to the “Don Hansen All-American Team”; as well as being awarded with the “Vince Lombardi Second Effort Award”.
Jonathan was a low-key artistic and abstract person. He was unique, authentic, and always stayed true to himself! He was a skilled “sketch artist” type of guy. He had good taste in the arts, drawings, paintings, graphic novels, TATTOOS, fashion, jewelry, and SNEAKERS! A dedicated and loving Dog Dad, to his right-hand man, Rudy Diesel.
Jonathan took special interest in kids and the youth in his community and neighborhood that he found to be special, and desired to be a role model for them, as well as their biggest fan. He was a Washington Twp. Minutemen Youth Football Assistant Coach, “Line Coach” in 2009. Whether it was while training for Football or his “post football life”, Jonathan loved working out. He genuinely enjoyed “crushing iron” and later, pounding the peloton pedals, LOL!
He was known to be a deep thinker, feeler, intellectual, and had no depths to the loving and caring of “his people”. Jonathan’s legacy will forever and always be being called “Dad”…a dedicated and loving father to three beautiful children. Jonathan was enamored by his children and always encouraged each one’s special features and talents.
Jonathan was diagnosed with Hodgkins Lymphoma in the Winter of 2002 and was declared in remission in June 2002. #playtogetherstaytogether….Jonathan always remembered and kept dear the 4 angels from TWP that organized and facilitated the “Jonathan Dunn Fundraiser Event”. He was introduced to “Little Bobby” Millward (mother, Heidi) while both were in treatment through TWP friend Charlie Doud. Bobby was a Pitman Panther (#19). Both Bobby and Heidi were important to Jonathan. Bobby was one of the most influential people in Jonathan’s life, and he was heartbroken after Bobby’s passing. Heidi and Jonathan both celebrated and honored Bobby’s name in years to follow with the “Bobby Millward Football Award”. Jonathan was the first recipient of the award, and it touched his soul to be the first one to honor Bobby’s memory.
Family and friends are welcome to attend his viewing Saturday, November 2nd, 10:15 – 11:45 AM at The Church of The Holy Family, 226 Hurffville Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 12:00 PM.
