What can I say about John Torri?? I heard of him and joined a car club because he belonged to it. He was known as a “Guru “ when it came to building Street Rod Classic Cars! I had just retired from the County Prosecutor’s Office and was on a mission to find out all I could about building my childhood dream of a Hot Rod. I attended a meeting, john was there, I got his phone # and called him cold! I explained my desire to build a Hot Rod. What did john do. After I purchased an original 1948!Plymouth, Rumble Seat Coup from the original owner in Phila. Pa. I towed it Home and John came to my garage every day! He took me under his wing and taught me how to build a street rod. He showed me how and what to do. His sketches , or ...(drawings) of his design ideas, coupled with his detailed “explanations “ were something to behold!! Funny... very funny!! but yet very sensible, practical. And “Low Buck” he was a masterful , extremely talented practitioner on which ever project he touched! The man had hands of gold! but most importantly, a truely golden heart. We bonded and went on to be best of friends for several years after and worked side by side on many Street Rod Builds. We spent hours talking, going to car shows all over, near and far!! I got to see up front his golden heart as he proudly spoke of his love for his family. His Queen and best friend, Von” his sons and daughters, his grand kids and friends, his parents. What a guy! He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. I really knew him, I saw a true Saint on earth in a tee shirt and sweat pants! A cup of coffee always in his hand, at my expense of course, he was the GURU after all! And he was!! PLUS he was my elder, you had to respect that! If you were his friend, He would stick by you and help you with any thing, at anytime! John could build anything, he could fix anything, he could turn a toad into a masterpiece with his bare hands of gold and brain of a genius!! Of course you had to look at his drawings, and listen to his explanation of the mechanics of it! He made you laugh, he made it fun, you saw his heart and his “Jacked up Grill “ thru his toothless smile!! What a guy!! I love John Torri Sr. I know he would not want us to grieve his loss. Rather, Celebrate his life! He is a huge loss to all who loved and knew him. I’m on that list! God speed Old Friend! I know you are in heaven with your mom and family. In eternal Peace. My god give grace and peace to his beloved wife, Von, and family. Sincerely, Your friend, Harry F.Glemser Jr. C.C.P.O. Homicide Div. Supv. CMMDR. Crime Scene Div. (CDI)

John was a great father, husband, Pop, friend, and neighbor! His life revolved around his family and he was so proud of them. We couldn’t have asked for a better neighbor and friend. John was the first to offer help whenever we needed it. He always made me laugh, and I’ll miss stopping to chat with him. Yvonne, I’m praying for you and your family. I’m here whenever you need me. What a terrible loss! But I’m sure John already opened a giant Car Shop in heaven and is looking out for all of you. He’d never leave his family.
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.
