James W. Peters Sr.(A.K.A. “Butch” or “Pete”)
Passed away at home surrounded by his loved ones on April 4, 2016. Of Upper Deerfield Twp. Butch was a devoted and loving husband of over 50 years to his adored childhood sweetheart and wife Mary Ann Peters (née Lubas), A caring, supportive, and always loving father of James W. Peters Jr. & wife Anne, Tina Christina Peters-Hammer & husband Sean (at Butch’s insistence Sean was more than a son-in-law, he was his SON). Devoted and humorous Grandfather of Alexzandria, Ethan, Justice, Lana, Tye, Sofia, and Michael. Cherished great grandfather of Silas and Vivian. A wonderful loving big brother to Jenny Lee, Lynn Corson, Dawn Sheppard, Lora Wheldon, David Langlois, Rosemary Lugo, Curtis Langlois, Dick Langlois, Maryann Hubert, and their spouses. James was a loving uncle to many nieces and nephews. Also a lifelong friend and loving brother-in-law and sister-in-law to Doloris and Lou Fernandez along with their children and grandchildren.
After a courageous battle with cancer which took him home to be with our Lord at age 68. where he is rejoicing in a blessed reunion with his grandparents Helen and Dick Peters, his mother and father Harriet and Gil Langlois, his two brothers Gil and Charlie, sister Cindy along with his brother-in-law Charles Lee “Chang.”
James “Butch” was born in Elizabeth NJ on March 22 1948. He spent the early part of his life there. He married his childhood love, along with their young family moved to southern Jersey in 1976 where they created a loving home and raised their children. As empty nesters James and Mary moved to the country where they retired and spent many blessed years together spending time with their beautiful family and friends until his passing.
James aka “Pete” served his community as a offer for Southern State prison. Retiring after for 28 years of service, During his time there he made many lifelong friends, gaining the respect from all that knew him.
Butch fully enjoyed media arts, HIs most cherished pass time was collecting and watching movies of all genres. He especially enjoyed sharing that time with family and friends.
Music was a great love and passion of his as well, he enjoyed music from all genres from Al Jolson to Doo Wop to Rock N Roll. with Roy Orbison being one of his all time favorites. He would often call people and say “you have to listen to this song” while playing it over the phone or in person or he would frequently sing a special part of a song directly to you from the depths of his heart as a way to share his emotions to those he loved.
Butch loved to read especially fantasy books. He was a avid collector of all things he found “Sharp” from unique hats, to all sorts of weapons and exotic\fantasy knives, that adorn his man cave to match his incredibly unique personality.
To have known this great man was to have loved him. On this day April 4 2016 at 1:45pm God gained a Hero, while we gained an Angel.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday 6:00 – 9:00 pm at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. and Friday 9:45 – 10:45 am at Holy Cross Parish, St. Mary’s Church, 732 Morton St., Bridgeton. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am. Interment Leesburg Cemetery, Leesburg.
