James J. Sbraga, of Washington Township, passed away on August 16, 2018, surrounded by family and friends at the age of 61. Beloved husband of Mary Ann (nee Mosetter). Hello everyone! I am Jay’s Brother, Michael.
Due to the passing of Jay I am finding out things I never knew about him; basically what a funny and crazy guy he was. Way more funnier and crazier than I thought. I guess, because I was much older than Jay, he acted more refined around me. I do live in Arizona and would see him once a year. I would call him every couple of weeks and most of the time never receive a return call: this included emails and text messages. Yet when I was in person with him, I could not shut him up.
Jay inherited the good qualities of my parents: willingness to help anyone, friendly, funny, family oriented, and courteous. Jay had the opportunity, that I didn’t have being an inner city kid growing up, to have motorcycles and a garage to work on engines. Our family are motor heads and not sports oriented at all.
So now here I am with a hole in my life. Jay’s passing is hitting me harder this week than last week. I guess it’s finally sinking in. On the good side I can talk to Jay anytime. Still doesn’t mean he will answer. On the bad side there will be times I see an article on a new motorcycle and think to send it to Jay. Well, that’s not possible anymore. I am sure that will be happening for a long time.
So my final words about my feelings for Jay actual come from the name of a song: “He ain’t heavy, He’s my Brother”.
