James (Jim) Andrew Schlitter passed peacefully in his home in his wife’s arms on April 23, 2023. Jim was very happily married for 17 years to his wife Annmarie and they raised three children together Kayla, Sean, and Ryan whom he loved so very much.
Beloved husband of Annmarie (nee Boyle). Devoted father of Kayla Andress (Chris), Sean Andress (Lisa) and Ryan Andress. Loving son of John and Sharyn Schlitter (nee Eldridge) and loving son-in- law of Rose Boyle and the late Thomas Boyle. Cherished brother of Sherry Kilpatrick (Michael), John Schlitter III (Maureen) and his family Bernadette Boyle, Lorraine Richardson (Don), Deidre Costello (Jim), Sheila Boyle (Kevin), Tom Boyle (Kathy), Bill Boyle (Christine), Siobhan Boyle and his many nieces, nephews, cousins and all his countless friends.
Jim was an accomplished & gifted contractor, using those skills to design and build a dream home for his family at the Jersey shore. Jim loved and had great pleasure spending time out on his boat sailing the inland waterways to watch the sun set. He loved fishing on the back bays of North Wildwood and out on the ocean. He greatly enjoyed golfing & bowling with his dear friends. Jim loved to entertain and was a great cook; known for his “Uncle Jim’s Spicy Shrimp sauce” and the all the recipes he would love to create. Jim was so kindhearted and if you were fortunate enough to cross his path, he would embrace you as a friend and there was nothing he would not do for you. Most of all Jim’s greatest pleasure was to sit on the deck of his beautiful home, in his rocker, with his “Sweet Annmarie”, an Irish whiskey in hand and quietly enjoy the sunset together. Jim was loved by so many and he will be greatly missed. His memory will be cherished forever in our hearts.
Family and friends are invited to Celebrate Jim’s life Saturday 10:00 AM -12:00 PM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. There are just no words! Jim was more then "like" a brother he was our brother. May we someday know why an Angel was sent to us, albeit for a short time, to help us along the way. Jim always welcomed everyone in his home with a smile and a joke. Treating our entire family like his own. Creating meals for us, chatting, listening, relaxing on his deck in the beautiful home he built on the canal. His true love and devotion to Annmarie was a shining example to all of us. She "wanted for nothing" with Jim in her life. A loving and devoted father to Kayla, Sean and Ryan. 45 years seems like enough time to accomplish anything until it comes to our friendship. I have been struggling to find the right words that could possibly describe the combination of love, friendship and disrespect that we have shared. Thank you for always being you when I needed you to be you. Thank you for tailgating at my Dad’s funeral with the BTL crew, it was exactly what I needed. Thank you for countless nights out hanging. Hey Jim. We met when we were 15 years old at BTL. I can remember you in your cut off jean shorts, some wildly inappropriate t-shirt and a fixed smirk under your mustache. I had no idea at the time that we would become lifelong friends. Time and life often causes people to drift but that friendship basis is always there. Even now, that you’ve made the trip to Heaven, memories will always remain. Thank you for being my go-to family weddings “plus 1”. Thank you for comforting me during my parent’s divorce in the late 80’s. Thank you for stalking my mom with me when she went on her first date after that divorce. Thank you for letting me drive your big blue Thunderbird around the campground. Thank you for the countless laughs and pranks we all played on each other. A good friend once wrote this in my high school yearbook: “I’m sure I could have lived my life without you but I’m glad I didn’t have to”. Thank you for being my friend.

Jim was such a nice brother-in-law. He was a good friend to me. He listened and gave good advice and joked and made me laugh so many times. He was a wonderful cook and made the best mashed potatoes! One year we were chatting about desserts and I mentioned a chocolate chip cookie/cheesecake recipe that looked good. About a week later when I went over to Annmarie and Jim’s house for dinner he surprised me by having made that dessert especially for me. It was SO good! I’m sharing that quick memory because it shows how kind and thoughtful he was. He usually sat next to me at Thanksgiving dinner and I’ll especially miss him at our family holiday gatherings. He was always joking and laughing and everyone loved him.
