Jack J. Biondo – age 85 – currently of Deptford, NJ (formerly of South Philadelphia), passed away peacefully with his family by his side on April 15, 2026. He was the beloved husband of Kathleen (nee Griffith), devoted father of Kathy Bowen (John), Michael Biondo, and Maureen Wright (Rob). Loving grandfather of Ryan (Dianne), Brad (Riley), Justin, and Jillian. Proud great-grandfather of Blake and Ryan. Dear brother of Linda Buffington (Ray). Cherished son of the late Rose Mastantuno and Samuel Kuncevich.
Jack’s first love was his family, and then the Mummers. He paraded 2 years with Murray Comic Club with his friend, Johnny McGinley, but after that – he was string band all the way! Jack joined the Fralinger String Band in 1955 as a drummer, but by 1956 he was a banjo player. In the years to follow, you could always find Jack in Fralinger’s front line with a big smile and his banjo. His commitment to Fralinger was unparalleled. This was his only hobby and he gave it 100%. As time passed, his son, Michael, also joined Fralinger as a saxophone player and a dancer. His son in law, John, is also in the band. And now his grandsons, Ryan & Brad, continue the family tradition.
After graduating Southern High School, Jack worked at several jobs until 1963 when he was hired at Boeing Aerospace where he was an overhead crane operator and in the hazardous materials area. Jack retired after 41 years in 2004. 1963 was a big year for Jack; he married his first love, Kathleen (Kate) and together they raised three wonderful children, Kathy, Mike & Maureen. Jack loved the shore and together over the years they purchased several homes in the Wildwoods where the family spent their summers.
Jack was a religious man and never missed Sunday mass, even if he was away on vacation. When he got too weak to attend, Jack & Kate watched the Mass and prayed the Rosary everyday on TV.
Family & Friends are welcome to attend his viewing on Friday, April 24th, 6pm – 8pm & Saturday, April 25th, 8:15am – 9:15am at the Egizi Funeral Home located at 119 Ganttown Road, Turnersville, NJ. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:00am at The Church of The Holy Family located at 226 Hurffville Road, Sewell, NJ. Entombment at New St. Mary’s Cemetery at 515 W. Browning Road, Bellmawr, NJ.
