Helen M. Small
(nee McKay) On April 26, 2016 of Washington Twp. Formerly of Grays Ferry & 2nd Street. Age 83. Beloved wife of the late James, Sr. Devoted mother of Charles (Anne), James, Jr. (Susan), Stephen, Timothy (Susan) and the late Susan Moscinski, Florence Monterosso and Dolores Small. Dear Mother-in-law of David Moscinski. Loving grandmother of Jaclyn (Joe), LeighAnn, Michele (John), Kristin (Joe), Richard (Mary Beth), Shannon, Gabrielle, Anne, Aileen, Jessica, Stephanie, Kailynn, Timothy, Christopher and Camryn. Proud-great-grandmother of Abby, Alison, Riley, Macie, Joseph, Carson, Tristan, London, Frankie and Eligio. Helen is also survived by her loving niece Miriam Mapp and other nieces and nephews and Anthony Caravello.
As a single mother, Helen worked hard to provide for her children. She worked for years as a switchboard operator at Einstein Hospital. In the more recent past, she worked as a scheduler for a radiology practice. Helen was a huge fan of Sinatra, Streisand, and big band music. She loved attending live theatre and watching and discussing her weekly shows with her granddaughters. Helen was an avid reader and, even in her last days, enjoyed attending book club at Manor Care Washington Township. She instilled that love of reading in her children and grandchildren. More than anything, she especially loved spending time with her family. She never forgot a birthday or special occasion and made sure to call and send a card. Her thoughtfulness and wry sense of humor will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Monday 10:30 AM-12:00 PM at SS Peter & Paul RC Church, 362 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 12:15 PM. Interment, St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing.
