Helen Bernhardt
(Nee Michaluk) passed from this life to her eternal home on November 14, 2022. She was 87, Born in Philadelphia, Helen and her husband lived in their Washington Township home for 58 years. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband Edward T. Bernhardt, Sr.; she was the devoted mother of Edward T. Bernhardt, Jr. (Patricia), the loving grandmother of Katie (John), and the proud great-grandmother of Jack, the apple of her eye. She was the dear sister of John Michaluk and the late Leo Michaluk.
Duchess, as she will forever be affectionately known, was a caretaker to anyone who needed her whether they were family, friends, or neighbors. Her generosity knew no bounds. An excellent cook and baker who enjoyed spoiling her family and friends with wonderful dinners, barbecues, and lunchtime gatherings, Helen was especially known for her famous cherry cheesecake, an often-requested dish at family gatherings.
An avid crocheter, Helen spent hours creating priceless family heirlooms that will continue to be enjoyed and passed down in our family, along with stories of her talent and generosity, for years to come. In addition to crocheting, our beloved Duchess derived great joy from planning social events for her cherished friends. Her faith was a driving factor in her life, and for over twenty years, her weekly prayer group meetings were a highlight of her week.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Monday 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM at SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 362 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 12:15 PM. Interment Gloucester County Veteran’s Cemetery, Williamstown.
