Harry A. McMaster, Jr.
On October 23, 2025, of Clayton. Age 87. Beloved husband of the late Mildred (nee Paul). Devoted father of Jeffrey, Mark (Terri) and Michael (Beth). Loving grandfather of Jason (Chelsey), Jeffrey (Veronica), Emily, Michael, Patrick and Julia. Cherished great-grandfather of Myles, Emma, and Parker. Dear brother of Shirley Green and the late Dorothy “Dot” Butler and Helen “Honey” Sullivan.
Harry was born in Kensington to Harry Sr., a Philadelphia Police officer, and Catherine (Cass). He was one of four children and the only son. Harry loved and would do anything for his sisters, Shirley, Dorothy (Dot) and Helen (Honey). Harry met his wife Millie, a friend of Dot’s, when she graciously stepped in as a replacement on a blind date.
Harry and Millie were married in 1959 and bought their first house in Kensington where they raised three sons, Jeffrey, Mark and Michael. In 1984, they moved to Pennsauken, NJ.
Harry was a good athlete in his day. He played offensive line at Northeast High School and 3rd Base and pitcher for Masland Duraleather and Sears and Roebuck for many years in the Philly Industrial Fast Pitch Softball league. He would later come out of retirement to become the starting pitcher for the Simpson United Methodist fastpitch team where he pitched an awesome three innings. He loved to spend his weekends in North Wildwood and the Villas, his station wagons always overpacked and he would often need to stop enroute to add oil or make other minor repairs. He loved fishing, crabbing and body surfing with his boys.
Harry was a Handyman. He worked alongside his father and later enjoyed taking his boys along on weekend projects. Particularly good at wallpapering, he was also able to teach them some plumbing, electrical, and carpentry, while at the same time giving Millie a much deserved break.
Harry was many things: a Teamster, an American, a Husband, a Father, a Grandfather, a Great-Grandfather, and a Friend to many. However, he loved his wife, his boys, his grandkids and great-grandkids the most.
Harry’s life will be honored and remembered by his family and friends at a later date.
