George J. Hakun
On December 17, 2021 of Washington Twp. Age 70. Beloved husband of Anita (nee Miozzi). Devoted father of Jonathan G. Hakun (Allison) and Laura M. Hakun. Loving grandfather of Jude Michael and Jacob George. Dear brother of Helen Kraynyak (Michael) and the late Joseph Hakun. Much loved son of the late John and Helen Hakun.
George Hakun was a loving, caring man who was adored by so many. His life revolved around his family and friends and his love for music.
He enjoyed traveling, attending baseball games and rock concerts, singing and playing guitar, discussing random topics with his beloved pets, and trying to make others laugh. Children and animals were naturally drawn to him and his light-hearted personality.
For nearly twenty years, George was a music minister for The Church of the Holy Family. He also published two books in his lifetime dedicated to the journey of his parents and his life growing up on 29th street in Philadelphia.
In his professional life, he worked as a disaster recovery specialist in the IT world, where he spent many years getting to travel to places across the United States, Canada, and even to Japan. Later he went on to become a professor for Rowan University teaching and sharing his love for Geography.
As others describe him, he was a force to be reckoned with and certainly one-of-a-kind. He brought joy to so many. His passing is a true loss and he will be deeply missed.
In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s memory may be made to the Homeward Bound Pet Adoption Center, 125 County House Road, Blackwood, NJ 08012 by mail or clicking onto the link.
George’s funeral services will be held privately by his family.
