Gail Marie Stanzione
(nee Tarone) On June 8, 2023 of Washington Twp. Age 58. Beloved wife of Kaydon. Devoted mother of Alyssa Marie Stanzione (Devon Wilson) and Richard Dominic Stanzione (Aleea Bishop). Loving daughter of Joan (nee Cortese) and the late Richard Tarone. Dear sister of Joyce Duca (Joseph, Jr.) and Sharon Harrison (Andrew). Loved by her nieces and nephews, Jenna Kotcher, Alexa Vail, Joseph Duca, Dominique Wolf, and Geno Duca. Gail is survived by her lovable pets Gracie, Kayla, and her turtle, Squirt.
Gail “Gi” Marie Stanzione from Sewell, NJ. Gi was the youngest of three sisters born into a traditional South Philly family at Pennsylvania Lying Hospital in Philadelphia on Nov 4, 1964. Her Dad (Rich), Mom (Joan), oldest sister (Joyce), and her older close Irish-twin doppelganger sister Sharon moved to Sewell, NJ in 1968. After graduating Washington Township High School in 1983 where she was a varsity track sprinter, she attended Glassboro State College (Rowan University) earning a BS degree in Business.
She worked as a business administrator and eventually managed a print shop in Woodbury, NJ where she met her future husband, Kaydon Stanzione. Gi had a larger-than-life personality. Vivacious, selfless, sports fan (anything Philadelphia!), compassionate, dog lover, child of God, the funnest Aunt and babysitter, and a friend to anyone lucky enough to have the chance to know her.
She never forgot your birthday, important occasions for you or your family, the little things that you liked, and she was always there for you and your family in times of need. She is the epitome of the South Philly “I got your back!” friend and family member.
She gladly gave up her professional career to work part time to help special needs children and raise her “self-proclaimed” daughter Alyssa Marie. Soon, Gi’s son Rich was born, and she had him in an Eagles outfit right out of the hospital and then playing youth football at 4yo. She loved to volunteer at youth sporting events, and as Alyssa and Rich continued their activities in college she was their ardent sports fan! Oh how she loved watching her son play football all the way through college and second came the Eagles!
She was everywhere you needed her to be. Before texting, she once said that she didn’t think she would use it. The first month she got a text-enabled phone, she cranked out 7,000 texts. But that’s because she had so many friends and constantly reached out to see how they were doing and if they needed anything or just wanted to “do lunch.”
Her character, morality, beliefs, and compassion were a magnet for all people. And her desire to bring joy and happiness even in the darkest moments was contagious to those around her. Many people describe her as “one in a million,” “a joy to be around,” “a great friend,” but she is truly known as “Aunt Gi” to our entire community. Aunt Gi wanted the best for everyone and surely doesn’t want anyone to mourn her passing to Heaven, but to celebrate their own lives, be inspired by her love of life and people, and to live life to the fullest with love, compassion, and energy… every single day.
She will be forever in our hearts, soul, memory, and a part of everything we do in life.
Family and friends are invited to attend her Funeral Mass Thursday, June 15th 11:00 AM at Holy Angels Parish/St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church, 86 Cooper St., Woodbury, NJ 08096.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gail’s memory may be made to The Susan G. Komen Foundation to help end breast cancer forever. www.komen.org
