Gabriel Marcovecchio, on September 16, 2018, of the Glen Oaks section of Gloucester Twp., formerly of Brooklyn, NY. Age 77. Beloved husband of Georgia (nee Morfi). Devoted father of Thomas (Helene), and Gina Gurcsik (Patrick). Loving grandfather of Alexa, Angelo, Stephanie, and Anthony.
A piece of Gabe’s heart was left in Brooklyn when he moved to South Jersey. For years, he would go back to Brooklyn during the holidays to buy bread and pastries. It was in Brooklyn, during his childhood that he became part of a close circle of friends, who through the years would always find a way to get to come together and share stories.
Gabriel was proud of his service to our country. His time in Germany was spent fostering life long friendships. He even secured a spot on the Army’s Basketball Team.
After an Honorable Discharge, Gabriel started his career in Information Technology working for Burlington Industries Manhattan, NY. This is where he met his wife Georgia. Gabe then worked for Lehman Brothers before landing a job at R.H Donnelly where he was employed for 21 years and rose to the position of Director of Information Technologies.
Gabriel’s generous spirit was always evident during the Christmas Season. Each year he made sure his beloved grandchildren received everything on their Christmas List. He was devoted to Alexa, Angelo, Stephanie and Anthony. relishing in each and every one of their accomplishments.
Gabriel is probably best known for hosting friends and family for crab parties, BBQ’s and Christmas Eve celebrations. Everyone was always welcome, there was always an abundance of food and the laughs were heard for several houses down.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Saturday 8:15 – 10:15 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am at the Church of the Holy Family, Washington Twp. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing.
