Fredricka M. Schroeder “Rickey” (nee Mullin) on November 14, 2018, of Washington Twp. Age 87. Beloved wife of the late Frank R. Devoted mother of Karla Schroeder-Kolakowski (Robert), Kristen S. Brogan (Donald), Kathleen Schroeder-Thistle (Thomas, III), and the late Karen Schroeder. Loving grandmother of Asia, Connor, Jack, Caroline, Julia, Alicia, and Allison. Dear sister of Joseph Mullin and Kathleen Denton. Survived by many loving nieces and nephews.
Rickey was born in Philadelphia and grew up in Willow Grove, Pennsylvania. She was the oldest of three, with a brother, Joe, and a sister, Kathleen. When she was a teen, the family moved to Deptford, New Jersey, and she attended Camden Catholic High School. Later she became a secretary at Campbell Soup Company, where she met Frank “Rig” Schroeder, the man she would marry.
Once the first baby came along, she happily took on the role of full-time mother and homemaker. Eventually, she and Rig had four daughters, and she used her sewing skills to keep everyone in matching outfits. After a move to Whitman Square, she became very involved with her neighborhood and especially her parish of St. Charles Borromeo. She taught CCD for several years, made casseroles for the Cathedral Kitchen, and sang in the church choir for more than 30 years. Sadly, their daughter Karen passed away in 1973. In time, there were graduations, weddings, and eventually grandchildren.
After Rig died in 2001, Rickey was determined to remain in the home that she loved. She rarely missed a family party, graduation, or wedding and loved attending her grandchildren’s events. She almost never missed Mass or choir practice. She enjoyed remarkably good health and remained in her own home for the rest of her life, according to her wishes.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Monday 7:00 – 9:00 pm and Tuesday 8:15 – 9:15 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 10:00 am at St. Charles Borromeo RC Church, Washington Twp. Interment Locustwood Memorial Park, Cherry Hill.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Fredricka’s memory may be made to the Cathedral Kitchen, 1514 Federal Street, Camden, NJ 08105. Memories and condolences may be shared with the family at www.egizifuneral.com
