Franklin D. Faramelli, Sr., on December 27, 2014, of Mt. Royal, NJ. Age 76. Beloved husband of Lucille (nee Scallatino). Devoted father of Susan Fortney (David), Sharon Pomponio (Carmen), Steven Faramelli (Sue) and Frank Faramelli, Jr. (Mariela). Dear grandfather of 7 and great-grandfather of 1.
Frank was a warm, kind-hearted, strong-spirited “gentle giant,” who possessed a love for so many things during his time spent here on earth. Although the list could go on and on, impossible to document each and every one or thing, first and foremost was his family. Frank was the epitome of family and togetherness and now that he is gone, resting peacefully, we are missing the biggest piece of our puzzle.
Frank was a native of Philadelphia, where he grew up and eventually met the love of his life, Lucille, at the young age of 14. Ever since that day, they were inseparable and five short years later, they were married. Although they drove each other mad at times, they were madly in love. This then led to the two moving on to buy a home in Folcroft, Delaware County and starting a family of their own. Frank and Lucille had four children, two girls and two boys. There was nothing in this world that Frank loved more, than his family. He always made sure to be active in their home life, as well as participate in their outside activities in the community where he coached his daughters’ softball team and acted as treasurer for the Folcroft Boys Club. Not only did he enjoy working, Frank was a provider. Frank worked multiple jobs between the Philadelphia Airport, J.W. Riley, Inc. where he was a merchandise supervisor and then onto Acme Markets where he eventually retired at the age of 63. Being the “jack of all trades” that he was, retiring wasn’t easy at first, but that is when his life truly began.
After his retirement, Frank was able to indulge more deeply into his family and the things he loved to do most. Over the years, he was blessed with seven grandchildren, putting the stars in his sky, and one great-grand daughter who made him come alive all over again. Despite whatever he may been going through medically or personally, he was always determined and nothing could ever stand in his way. Frank never missed a Phillies game, a Thursday morning breakfast meeting with the guys, or a chance to play the lottery and hopefully get lucky. No matter what, we could always count on him to be there with bells on; with a smile and a sarcastic joke.
Frank was equal parts husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He gave so much to this world, and has touched so many people. Although he will be missed greatly, his legacy will continue to live on and he will never be forgotten.
A few words to remember him by:
“Always be nice to people, but if you find someone that is difficult, kill them with kindness. Eventually they will come around.”
“Nothing in your life is that bad, that you can’t come to me and talk about it.”
