Loving grandfather of Gianna, Sasha, Sophia, and Julian. Dear brother of the late Albert, Mario, and Linda. Cherished brother-in-law Dora Grandelli and Nicholas Cianci. Loved by nieces and nephews.
Eugene Generinno Bonetti, 98, of Turnersville, NJ, passed away peacefully at his home surrounded by family on March 1, 2026. To know him was to be welcomed into his generous heart and spirit and he will be greatly missed.
Raised at 49th and Thompson in West Philadelphia, Gene was a proud veteran of World War II. He joined the Army at age 18 in 1945 and after basic training in Oklahoma was overseas for the occupation of Japan where he rose to the rank of Supply Sergeant. As part of a generation defined by courage and sacrifice, he carried the values of duty, discipline, and loyalty with him throughout his life.
Following his military service, Eugene worked for Horn & Hardart’s, Thunderbird Steakhouse, Electrolux, and Piasecki Aircraft Corporation just to name a few. His longest time was spent at Boeing Vertol where he worked for 29 years until he retired in 1993. With every job, Gene proved himself innovative, gregarious and hard working. Many of his work friendships lasted well beyond the job or even the company itself.
Beyond his professional life, Eugene was a gifted artist and sculptor. He had a remarkable talent for restoring broken statues, carefully bringing them back to life and giving them a second chance to be displayed and appreciated. His hands not only repaired stone and sculpture but also reflected his belief that beauty and value could always be restored. His artistry was a quiet testament to his patience, creativity, and deep respect for craftsmanship.
Gene’s curiosity and endless charm (he was a World Champion Flirt) led him to meet Diana Cianci – his beloved wife of sixty-three years. Together, they raised two wonderful boys, Gene, Jr., (Irina) and Damon (Charlotte). Summers in Wildwood, car trips, endless dinners and cheer around the table gave him joy like nothing else, especially when grandchildren came along – Sasha, Gianna, Julian and Sophia.
He will be remembered most for his warmth and generosity. He had a special gift for making everyone feel welcome in his home — and in many cases, no one ever left without a full stomach. He truly enjoyed being around people and lived a life abundant with friendship. His home was a gathering place, his table was always open, and his presence made others feel valued and cared for.
Known for his steady strength, kind heart, artistic spirit, and deep love for family and friends, Eugene leaves behind a legacy of service, hospitality, creativity, and enduring devotion.
He cared endlessly, loved constantly, and declared his feelings without hesitation. His faith in God sustained and comforted him throughout his long and full life.
He will be deeply missed and forever held in the hearts of all who were fortunate to know and love him.
Family and friends are welcome to attend his viewing Thursday, March 5th 10:30 – 11:30 AM at SS. Peter & Paul Roman Catholic Church, 362 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11:45 AM. Interment Gloucester County Veteran’s Cemetery, Williamstown.
