Ernest “Ernie” Milou
96, beloved father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and a retired business executive passed away on March 7, 2022 at Jefferson Washington Township Hospital. He died peacefully surrounded by family after a recent injury.
Ernie was born in Philadelphia on June 30, 1925 to Benjamin and Fannie Milou, then owners of a candy store. He spent most of his childhood years in Philadelphia, always helping out in whatever store or restaurant his parents owned. He was the first member of his family to attend college, graduating from the University of Pennsylvania.
Ernie was a born with a flair for business. He had a long and successful career at Penn Packing Company, a meat-processing firm, where he served in various executive roles. He was an avid golfer, loved to watch Philadelphia sports, enjoyed good food and especially treasured spending time with his family.
Ernie lived many years on the Main Line and for the last decade resided with his son, Eric and his family, in Washington Township, NJ.
Ernie is deeply missed by his children, Eric (Karen) Milou, Perry (Angela) Milou, and Mimi Milou, and eight grandchildren, Randy Mylow, Terry Milou and Jaclyn Molder, and by Austin Milou, Jordyn Milou, Dakota Milou, Francesca Milou and Nico Milou.
He is survived by seven great-grandchildren, Elle, Izzy, Peyton, Avery, Jackson, Westley and Kylee, and by three nieces and nephews, Jamie Beckett, Larry Beckett and Melissa Gilroy.
Ernie is also survived by his former wife, Angel DeFrancesco Milou, and former daughter-in-law, Joanne Enelow-Milou.
He was predeceased by his son, Randy, his first wife, Pearl Lipoff Milou, and by his sister, Natalie Sherry Beckett.
A private burial will be held at Montefiore Cemetery on Sunday, March 13th at 10am. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Jewish Family and Children’s Service of Greater Philadelphia, 2100 Arch Street, 5th Floor, Philadelphia, PA 19103.
