Eloise Elaine Bernier Smalls also known as “Pebbles” by her family was born June 29, 1944 in Jamaica, West Indies to the late Carlyle (Lloyd) Bryan and Sybil Hamilton (nee Paisley). She was one of ten children and was raised in a loving Christian home and accepted Christ at an early age. Eloise joined St. Matthews Baptist Church in Williamstown, NJ in 1988 where she was a faithful member for many years
Eloise met and married Wilbert Smalls on June 22, 1985 and together they resided in Sewell New Jersey. Eloise was loving, charismatic, funny, eloquent, and fearless. She enjoyed, traveling and cooking, of which family and friends were happy recipients of her efforts. She embraced life and its challenges with unmoving Faith and gratitude. Gardening for Eloise was therapeutic and she took great pleasure in sharing the seeds she sowed. Eloise loved her family and advocated for them to pursue higher education. Eloise received her Associates Degree from Neumann College in 1995, and was employed at St. Agnes Medical Center in Philadelphia, PA where she retired after 40 years of service.
Eloise was pre-deceased in death by her parents Carlyle Bryan and Sybil Hamilton. Her firstborn son, Wayne Kenyatta Cardoza, sisters Norma Mae Anderson and Carmen Gabriel.
Eloise leaves behind her husband Wilbert, and together they were lovingly referred to as “Psyche and Trim” where you saw one, the other was right there. Her children Carlos Bernier, Sharon Thompson (Reginald) and Janice Smalls and Mimose Bernier, and three grandchildren Teron, Tamani, Brandon, and one great granddaughter Saige.
Brothers Anthony Bryan (Doris), Evol Bryan, Arthur Bryan (Patricia) and Homer Hamilton (Lei). Sisters Neita Hamilton, Paula Hamilton Dalling (Neville) and Velma Hamilton. Eloise also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews and friends to mourn her loss.
Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing on Friday, May 14th 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. Funeral service 10:00 AM. Interment Merion Memorial Park, Bala Cynwyd, PA.
