Eleanor Coons was my angel, our Princess Diana. I want to thank you all for coming. Your attendance here speaks volumes about the impact that this wonderful woman had on all of us.
Some of you knew her as Mom, Gram, Mimom, Aunt Eleanor, Elli, and she definitely was the queen of our castle. To me and her family she was simply Amazing and caring. She had more love than most can fathom.
Gram loved her great grand babies, feeling like she hit the lottery being able to be here on earth to see these miracles. All the way up to her last days, she sang and “Goochie Goo’d” Skylar and Oliver with every chance she got. She made sure that Kaitlyn and Tyler knew how proud she was and how loved they were. She made sure to use her last teaching and life lessons on Brianna and Braydon. As for her daughter, they were inseparable. Loving and thanking her till the last moment. For myself, April, our bond had no words, I hope that I can be even half the grandmother that she was to us.
“What are the 3 words that you would use to describe Gram?”
There isn’t just 3…
While simple, Its easy to paint a detailed portrait of the woman we all knew and loved. I will read them out to you and highlight a few of them.
– Considerate
– Loving
– Selfless
– Nurturing
– Thoughtful
– Generosity
– Compassionate
Gram was unbelievably compassionate. Her heart and her generosity knew no bounds. Her door was always open – literally. She rarely locked it. You could just walk in and people often did. Neighbors, friends, immediate family and relatives, all knew they had a place to stay for a few minutes, a few hours or for a few days, to enjoy her hospitality and her generosity with Food, Italian pastries, or just desserts in general. The door was always open and the food was always plentiful.
Over and over she became the “hostess with the mostest” at our infamous 5 points diner. People loved her smile And that’s not all, her fashion sense we could go on forever…….. she loved to socialize, customers and co-workers became lifelong friends.
Grams biggest rules: Never leave the house without earrings, Always have your lips on, and never go in public looking like “who did it and ran”!
Everyone should know, she loved with everything and forgave with just as much.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Tuesday 5:00-7:00 pm at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Funeral service 7:00 pm.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Eleanor’s memory may be made to St. Jude’s Research Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105.
