Pop Pop, I'm devastated that you're gone, but I know that you're alive in heaven. No one is old in heaven and I know you're up there playing cards with the Berrys and Mrs Valley and being the best pop pop you can be. We miss you and love you really. Love, Jim, Kel, and Carter

To my pop-pop and godfather, You walked the earth for 82 years and although you are no longer physically here, you are still alive in my heart and mind. Through my sisters and brothers and I, you continue to live. I see you in my dad, in the way he looks like you, his mannerisms, and his enthusiasm for sports. You will always be with me. Love your granddaughter, Jennifer
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Ed and Elaine are two of the most caring, giving people I know. You two have taught me so very much about giving over the years. Everything that you have done for others, especially raising those three beautiful, loving grand daughters, is commendable. Ed will be missed, but Elaine will carry on his legacy. You both are in my prayers. God bless you, Connie

My sincere condolences to the Harkins Family. May all find comfort and hope in the promises from God's word. He will soon "swallow up death forever and wipe away the tears from all faces." (Isaiah 25:8)

I remember being a sophomore in high school and attending a 76ers game with my friend John. The Sixers were down by 5 with about 20 seconds left in the game and I knew my dad was waiting outside in his car, so we left. When we got in the car, he had the game on the radio. The Sixers had come back and the game was in overtime. He looked at us and wondered what we were doing there since the game hadn't ended. I said we left because I knew he was outside waiting. He laughed and said "Don't worry about me Tommy. You never leave a game before it's over because anything can happen. It's not as if I was going to drive off and leave you here. I'll wait for you. Don't leave a game early again." To this day, I always stay until the end, and have said the same thing to my sons.

Mr Harkins influenced me in my life, probably more than he knew... and probably more than he would want to admit... one of the most intelligent people I ever met... he suffered for a long time... but as his suffering gradually disappeared, it lingered for his family... they are a very busy bunch but always gave time to him... showing their love and dedication... I am sad to say goodbye, but happy that his suffering is over... in my mind, if there is a heaven, hes the dean of discipline... and don't worry Ed, I will shave before I come up to see you........................................... love to the Harkins family.....
