Donald C. Brown, Sr., of Gloucester Twp, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 22, 2016. Age 88. Beloved husband of the late Ruth (nee Hodinka). Donald C. Brown, Sr., of Gloucester Twp, passed peacefully at home surrounded by family on September 22, 2016. Age 88. Beloved husband of the late Ruth (nee Hodinka). Devoted father of Donald C., Jr., Denise Pavan (Gary), Charles (Marie Elena) and David. Loving grandfather of Nicholas, Gabriella, Samantha and Sydney.
Don was retired from the construction business, working many years for Prepakt Concrete Company and Raymond International. While his work often took him away from home, his heart was always with his family. A Navy veteran, he proudly served with the 103rd SeaBee Battalion serving mostly in the Pacific, and was honorably discharged from service. He was an active member of VFW post 6332 and the American Legion, Post 295 of Brownsville, PA, where he was Past Commander. As a native of western Pennsylvania, Don was an avid Pittsburgh sports fan and also loved to watch golf. He loved to play cards and recently enjoyed playing at the Hider Lane Senior Center in Gloucester Twp.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Wednesday 7:00 – 9:00 pm and Thursday 9:30 – 10:30 am at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington, Twp. Funeral Service 10:30 am. Interment Gloucester County Veterans Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Donald’s memory may be made to Veterans Helping Veterans, Gloucester County Veteran’s Affairs Office, Attn: Mr. Robert Jonas, P.O. Box 337, Woodbury, NJ 08096 or the American Cancer Society, 1851 Old Cuthbert Rd., Cherry Hill, NJ 08034. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.egizifuneral.com.
