Diane M. Rainey

(nee Salera) On May 5, 2023 of Washington Twp. Age 63. Beloved wife of Steve. Devoted mother of Sean, Chris (Vivian) and Ryan Rainey. Dear sister of John, Barbara Plata, Denise Deckard, Sherri Hart, Dan, Linda Barbera, Steve and Joanna Halvorson.

Diane was a hard worker having dedicated her career to the food service industry. She was a devoted worker at Washington Township Public Schools for over 20 years and served as the head cook at Bunker Hill Middle School. She also worked part time as a food service worker at the Jefferson Health nursing home in Washington Township. Outside of work, Diane loved her family and friends. She was the life of the party using her gift of gab. She loved to talk to anyone and everyone; nobody was left out. Diane loved to organize casino trips with her sisters, happy hours with her co-workers, beach trips with her friends, and vacations with her family. She did not let the grass grow beneath her feet. Diane’s fun, outgoing spirit will truly be missed by all.

Family and friends are invited to attend her visitation Saturday 9:00-11:00 AM at St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church, 176 Stagecoach Road, Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 AM.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Diane’s memory may be made to MD Anderson Cancer Center

sorry so to see the passing of diane. i was her bowling team mate for many years. she really was the life of the party. she made bowling fun. rest in peace my team mate dave

Mrs Diane was my favorite person ever, and i was definitely her favorite student.While attending BHMS 6-8 grade, she always gave me free cookies and apple slices during lunch. We’d always share how are day was going and what we were up to. While she was gone this past week, everyday i’d ask where was and if she was ok. finding out this tragedy was very sad for me. Mrs Diane will always be in my heart as a hero and a second mom.

I work at the Jefferson health care center and Diane who worked in dietary she was always so nice ? and friendly.l feel so bad that she passed away.she will be missed.

May the four winds blow you safely to Heaven...A beautiful soul lost too soon...

So terribly sorry about the loss of your beloved wife and mother, Diane. She was a lovely lovely upbeat person Cared about everyone, staff and students She would call me down to her office to help her and felt she was bothering me. I enjoyed speaking to her, it was a pleasure to help Her loss is felt everywhere. She’s a special angel now, look for signs all around.

Diane will truly be missed ; friends since grade school; all the good times and laughs are coming right back like it was yesterday… and so did a time when Di was tragically hit by a car and I stood wines to it with our other childhood friends She fought hard to get rehab’ed back in shape….so determined not yto let it dampen her spirit! I really loved her even though we hadn’t seen each other for quite a while… She was one of the good ones!! Xoxo Rest in Peace my friend N

Steve and Family, I am so sorry for the loss of Diane. I had the honor of coaching Diane over 40 years ago when she played for the Smylie Spartans. On a team of softball stars she always shined. Diane will certainly be missed and forever remembered.

Diane, you were one of my first friends , when we moved to the North East. You were funny & so kind. I remember sitting in your basement listening to your sisters play Neil Young. I believe it was Barbara who played the harmonica. I admired your work ethic. May God bless your family & hold all of you in the palm of his hand. Until we meet again!

Dear Rainey Family, I want you to know how beloved Diane was here at Bunker Hill. She always put kids first and did whatever needed to be done to tend to their needs. She was more than a cafeteria cook to us. She was a true educator who understood not only nutritional wellness, but the social/emotional wellness of the kids. She was a true Bunker Hill Bulldog in every since. We will forever miss Diane. God Bless

I knew Diane through her neighbors, Jan and Jim. The first time I was at a social event with Diane I discovered that she was Barbara Salera's sister. So sorry for your loss. Diane will be missed. My heart is broken over this. She was a fun, caring person. Always made me laugh. She was a great co worker. I still can’t get this in my head. I kinda knew it was bad, but didn’t think she would go so fast. She will always be in our hearts.

Steve and boys, I am so very sorry for your loss. Diane was a wonderful person. I have such good memories of her. Diane was always fun to be around! In our younger years she was a good softball player (The most consistent pitcher I knew). We had good times hanging out and going down the shore. She shares her birth day with my brother. I will always think of her with love on October 15.

We are very saddened to hear of Diane’s passing. Her amazing smile, infectious laugh and positive attitude were always welcomed at work and she will be truly missed.

Diane was one of a kind . Gone too soon. Same age as your mom. Said what was on her mind and you never had to guess with her . She had a great laugh and a good heart . She was funny even when she wasn’t trying to be . She could always make you laugh . Ex - marinara sauce is not the same word as where you keep a boat and you once said that “you don’t even need two kidneys to live , in fact I don’t even think people are being born with them anymore . “ I remember countless sayings of yours , and as long as you remembered her birthday she would never forget yours. RIP Diane . May the wonderful memories that everyone has of you help with the sadness of your loss . Xoxo

I always loved working with Diane she is such a sweet loving lady she always put a smile on my face walking and into work and seeing that I was working with Diana that day always a great day at work or going out on our work nights out I am going to miss her sadly I love that lady ❤️
