David R. Monie, on November 30, 2015, of Washington Twp. Age 71. Beloved husband of Roseanne (nee Keimig). Dear brother of William D. Monie, Jr. (Judy). Dear brother-in-law of Marie Wallen (Mark). Loving uncle of Jennifer, Kristin, Melissa and Brittany.
Born in Summit New Jersey, and raised in Maine, David’s was a life of exemplary service. After graduating from Tufts University, he served as a 1st Lieutenant in Vietnam, then, qualified as a professional engineer. Whether operating small water companies, consulting on major development projects or advising local, state and federal agencies, both employees and clients benefitted from his honesty, faithfulness and generosity. Serving in churches large and small, David taught Scripture in a Camden prison, personally mentored released prisoners and their families, and founded aftercare programs that still do remarkable work. Thanks to David’s leadership and the help and support of his wife, Roseanne, inmates’ children received toys, clothing and age-appropriate Bibles through Prison Fellowship’s Angle Tree program. Whether leading as a Presbyterian elder in new church development or delivering Angle Tree presents, David did all for the glory of his Heavenly Father.
Outside of work and church, David’s hobbies included New Hampshire fishing trips, Kingston Trio songs played on his guitar in college and more recently, adult piano lessons. This quote from a fellow student much younger than David exemplifies how even in leisure activities, his warmth, sense of humor and genuine caring impacted others: “I loved hearing him at piano club. He always gave us kids support when we were nervous even though he showed us up every time! I know I am a better student and practice more because his work ethic motivated me.” While, here on earth he is and will continue to be sorely missed, Heaven is rejoicing.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Thursday 7:00 – 9:00 PM at Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp. and Friday 10:00 – 11:00 AM at the Immanuel Presbyterian Church, Park Drive and Market Street, Bellmawr. Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing.
