David J. Helterbran, Jr.

On September 9, 2025, of Washington Twp. Age 68. Beloved husband of Susan (nee Scaglione). Devoted father of Melanie Wilson (Tara) and David J. Helterbran III (Emily). Loving grandfather of Luke and Dean. Dear brother of Lorraine Ladd and Naomi Helterbran. Cherished brother-in-law of Robert and Patricia O’Herlihy. Loved by many nieces and nephews. Although he left one faithful pup Chance behind, he is reunited with his pup Scout.

David Helterbran, Jr. coached softball in Washington Township for over 25 years and was known as Coach Dave throughout town. He loved to host happy hour on his driveway for all his friends, a good cigar, James Bond movies, and music (especially smooth jazz).

Dave was always willing to help someone with a home improvement or landscaping project. He’d give you the shirt off his back but not without busting your chops at the same time.

David’s life will be honored and remembered privately by his family.

I have just found out about David passing and am so sad. Both David and Susan were just a huge, wonderful part of my college experience and after. I wish now I had kept in better contact with both David and Susan as I love them both. David was very special and will be truly missed by anyone who shared some time with him.

I am just now seeing this, and I am heartbroken. Sue, Melanie, David and the family, I am so sorry for your loss. Dave will always be remembered for his smile and sense of humor! Our condolences to your family. We were part of Coach Dave’s TWP Comet Team. Addison connected with Coach Dave because he was old school drills, just like her Pap Pap did drills at Eastern High School and still now at Sterling HS. He was all about the game and the player. My condolences to your family. We are so sorry for your loss. My daughter Addison played for Coach for the Township Comet’s, and prior to her High School year. Coach was Old School with his drills, exactly how her Pap Pap was with baseball drills at Eastern High School was and still is for Sterling HS. Coach was so proud of his daughter and her accomplishments. We are sorry for your loss.

My condolences given to Susan Heltibran on the recent death of David Heltibran. We were shocked Dave, who everybody love, was everybody loved. My wife Joyce and myself said Dave will leave in our hearts. He’ll be our hearts forever.
