Christopher Joseph Narducci, Sr., age 72, of Washington Township entered the Lord’s loving embrace surrounded by his family on February 7, 2022 after a courageous and hard-fought battle with ALS.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, Patricia (nee Follman), his children Christopher J. Narducci, Jr. (Eileen), Lauren Symmes (Mark,) Megan Foster (Craig,) his grandchildren Christopher, Lorelai, Logan, Leah, Ava, Lillian, and Ryan, and his sisters Lynne Guidotti (Charles,) and Edith Petrongolo (Anthony.)
Chris was born to the late Alfred and Anna Narducci in Camden, NJ on October 12,1949 and grew up in Haddon Heights. He attended Camden County College and graduated from Glassboro State College with the class of 1971.
He planned to join the Air Force upon his graduation, but the recruiter misplaced his paperwork, so he followed in his father’s footsteps and joined the Navy instead. He proudly served on board the USS MYLES C FOX (DD829) from 1971-1975 and completed an around-the-world cruise including a stop off the coast of Vietnam.
Following his Naval Service, Chris spent the remainder of his career working in the insurance industry. He retired in 2015 and pursued his love/hate relationship with the game of golf. HIs career highlights include hitting a “hole in one” into the backyard fence and tossing a sand wedge onto the rocks at Pebble Beach.
When his children were growing up, Chris volunteered as a Boy Scout Leader, baseball coach, and umpire, and on more than one occasion came close to throwing himself out of the game.
He was a longtime member of SS Peter and Paul Parish. He was active with the Parish Council, served as a Eucharistic Minister, and spent many a happy Sunday singing with his friends in the Folk Group.
Like any good Italian, Chris loved pizza and thought that it should replace vegetables as one of the four basic food groups. He was a huge fan of the Phillies and Eagles and could sometimes be heard by his neighbors offering the players verbal encouragement when watching games on TV. His favorite movie was the Wizard of Oz and he could do an impressive imitation of the Cowardly Lion.
Chris was far from cowardly, and he showed tremendous strength and courage in the face of his diagnosis. Even on the most challenging days, he greeted his family, friends, and care team with his signature smile. His family will be forever grateful for all of the love and support that they received from those who traveled this difficult journey with them.
Family and friends are invited to attend his viewing Monday 10:30 – 12:00 PM at SS. Peter & Paul RC Church, 362 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 12:15 PM. Interment Gloucester County Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Williamstown.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider making a donation in Chris’s memory to the ALS Association www.als.org. or Paralyzed Veterans of America www.pva.org.
