Chuck was a member of the Finance Committee for our community, Parke Place, and he was always energetic, wise, helpful, kind and supportive. I didn't take the opportunity to get to know him well, but have no doubt he was like that toward everyone and every situation he met. Rest in peace, Chuck.

Dear Margaret, First of all, for what it’s worth, I’m sorry for your loss. Second, I pray that the Holy Spirit comforts you and your entire family during this tough time. The Bible says to be absent from the body is to be present with the LORD. God bless you in Jesus’ name. Sincerely, Jeremy F. Hagan, Former student at Collingswood High School

Jerry Cullen left a message on January 5, 2023:
I’ve traveled all 50 states and a couple of dozen countries, and I have never met another person like Charlie. His mixture of accomplishments and mischief was truly unique. While he pushed the envelope with his free wheeling nature, there was never a doubt that he was totally commited to what was best for the students of Washington Township. Rest in peace? I don’t think so. Charlie will be too busy making his mark in the afterlife as well. He will be missed by all of us who fondly recall his escapades.

Charlie and I were teammates on the 1963 ACHS baseball team. As the second baseman, I was on the receiving end of the cannon Charlie called an arm. It was our SJ Group IV Championship year and nobody ran on Charlie. In 2017, I reconnected with Charlie when he spear-headed the induction of our 1963 team into the ACHS Sports Hall of Fame. I'll remember him fondly as a humble man who quietly gave of himself to others.
Dr Dave & Linda Phillips left a message on January 4, 2023:
Margaret & Family, We are so very sorry that Chuck has moved to Heaven but are truly thankful that he is free from all the sickness he has endured. We were blessed to have had him a part of our lives. It was amazing how he maintained such a positive attitude thru it all. He will be greatly missed - he touched so many lives. Thankfully, we have the blessed assurance that we will see him again one day when it is our turn to move to Heaven. Please know that we love you and will surround you and the family with prayer. We know that Jesus will comfort you in the days ahead with HIS amazing love.

Thoughts and prayers to Margaret and family. We have so many fond memories of this special man. He drove a limo after I graduated nursing school and provided a fun guided tour of South Philly, trips to Killington Ski Resort and Seven Springs in Pa. He was life of any party and was the most kind man. Heaven gained an angel!

Joe Micale left a message on January 2, 2023:
Charlie called me 3 weeks ago. "It’s Charlie your catcher." It was 60 years ago we played on the 1963 ACHS baseball team which was inducted into the ACHS hall of fame. Charlie was responsible for that as a great player and a spokesman for the team to be recognized. He loved talking about our Babe Ruth and ACHS baseball days. He always made me look good. I told him the last time we spoke that nobody is going to remember all those athletic awards that he needed a statue. But he was more that an athlete. Despite his recent physical problems he was always upbeat and going to do what he wanted to do. He was such an inspiration. The man never had a bad word to say about anybody. I will sorely miss my old catcher but not forget him. Rest in peace Chuck.
Gerry Frederick Taraschi left a message on January 2, 2023:
What can I or anyone say that would be sufficient in paying tribute to Charles Earling. He along with others was responsible for me coming to Washington Township many years ago. His support, guidance, and friendship was something that I have always cherished. Our families would sometimes meet in Disney and laugh as well as get into trouble while there, because either he or I would instigate it. His presence in the district was unequaled. His passion for the students and athletic programs was monumental. His personality, portrayals of Santa, The Easter Bunny, and other antics brought smiles to all of us. Perhaps the greatest tribute that could be bestowed upon any person is to say that he will NOT ONLY BE MISSED BUT MOST IMPORTANTLY HE WILL BE REMEMBERED. To my friend and colleague, I will always remember. Sleep well my friend.

To Chuck's Family and Friends- I am sorry for this loss. I hope memories will bring you some comfort. When I was a rookie Athletic Director Chuck was a willing mentor. He was all about the kids. While some AD's saw Cheerleaders as a nuisance, Chuck established an Olympic Conference Cheer Competition. He worked on developing Sportsmanship among the schools. He had a great sense of humor and also a great devotion to his family . I am sure he has heaven organized. He will for sure be sending his love and support to you. May he rest in peace.

I last saw Charles at an Atlantic City High School class of 1965 get-together some years ago. I remember him fondly as a good guy, a nice person, from our years at ACHS. The world is a little bit poorer without Charles, a good human being. I will miss his kind spirit.

It has been a pleasure to know you for so long and in so many different capacities, starting as the athletic director at WTHS in 1972 when I was in the 8th grade.
