On December 29, 2013 of Washington Twp. Age 87. Beloved husband of the late Lillian (nee Holston). Devoted father of Michael G. (Ayse), Patrick J. (Joan) and Timothy E. Shade. Loving grandfather of Kristin, Matthew and Erin. Dear brother of Edgar L. Shade. Loving companion of Eileen Barker.
Herm was a WWII Navy Veteran and a lifetime member of the VFW and American Legion. He graduated from Indiana University and pursued a career in criminal justice retiring after 27 years. Later, he started a second career as the General Manager at Washington Twp. Municipal Utilities Authority and retired again after seven years.
He was a long time member of the Methodist Church most recently with St. John’s United Methodist Church. Herm served in many capacities including teaching, head ushering, the men’s association and the Board of Trustees.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Friday 9:00-11:00 am at St. John’s United Methodist Church 149 Ganttown Rd., Turnersville, NJ 08012. Funeral service 11:00 am. Interment will take place in Illinois. Arrangements are under the care of the Egizi Funeral Home, Washington Twp. In lieu of flowers donations in Herm’s memory may be made to St. John’s United Methodist Church at the above address. Condolences may be shared with the family at www.egizifuneral.com
