Camille “Sonny” V. Foschini was born on September 24, 1941 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania to loving parents Concetta (Mignogno) and Philip Foschini. Sonny is survived by his siblings Marie, Philip, Anthony and Concetta. As a boy Sonny worked at DiBruno’s Market and Rosato Chicken Store in South Philadelphia and would often shine shoes for extra money. He often talked fondly of childhood memories in South Philadelphia. He then graduated from Southern High School and then went to serve his country in the Army and was very proud to do so.
While in the Army he met Frankie Caldone which would be a lifelong friend. Frankie introduced him to an elegant, young lady from Brooklyn, NY, Jo Ann Martini. Sonny and Jo Ann were soon married and raised 3 caring children, Vincent, Christopher and Tara. His grandchildren- Kristine, Nicole, Christopher, Joseph, Luciana, Giavanna, and Brody were his pride and joy!!
Sonny would often speak of
● trap shooting with grandson Christopher and brother- in -law, John, and Charlie Tubertini
● fishing with family and friends especially on the “Porgy” out of Cape May
● family vacations and get togethers
● sitting out on the swing with Jo Ann by the pool listening to Sinatra
● making sure any workers on the street, trash men and lawn service (for other houses) had cold drinks in the summer
Famous Sonny quotes
● Isn’t this great – as he looked around at everyone that was with him
● Life is good
● Wait, let me get one more picture
● It’s storytime – loved to tell stories but most of them he made up
● This is my Bride Jo Ann (even after 47 years of marriage)
● Are we having spaghetti
● Thank you very much
● “SCORE”!!!!
Throughout his life Sonny’s “family” grew with love, laughter and deep commitment to happiness. Whether it was the conversations with his Aramark co-workers and customers, the laughter and routing with the other pop-pops on the sidelines, or his welcoming poolside nature, Sonny loved life and left an enormous impact on all who had the opportunity to be in presence.
I guess the only thing left to say is Sonny was a good husband, father, grandfather, and friend. He will be missed!!
Relatives and friends are invited to attend his viewing Monday 7:00 – 9:00 PM and Tuesday 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the EGIZI FUNERAL HOME, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp.
