Bertha A. “Betsy” Lion nee Rittenhouse

On May 26, 2011, of Washington Twp. Age 75. Beloved wife of Charles H. Devoted mother of Russell E. Kassin Fabia and Dale E. Kassin Patricia. Loving grandmother of Christopher, Michael, Carol and Stacey. Proud great-grandmother of Stephen, Brian, Stephanie, Nicholas, Alyssa, Alexis, Cody, Peyton, Mikey and Danica.

Betsy was a bus driver and trainer for Washington Twp Schools for 25 years. She was an EMT and Ambulance driver and Life member for the Washington Twp Ambulance Squad and a Police Dispatcher for the Washington Twp. Police Department from 1988-2001.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her viewing Tuesday 8:15 – 10:15 am at the EGIZI FUNERAL HOME, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am at SS Peter and Paul RC Church, Washington Twp. Interment private at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Bertha’s memory may be made to the Gloucester County Animal Shelter, 1200 N. Delsea Dr., Clayton, NJ 08312.

If Betsy thought you were in trouble, she'd send the @%^%@#^ calvary. NO ONE will ever replace her concern and performance at the WT Police Dispatch. She owned the console. The rules changed when Betsy wheeled her chair into the place... Even when she had difficulty breathing on the Squad, she would adamantly wave us on, like a conquering General in battle. Betsy saved lots of lives. We all saw it. I guess I can say it was even miraculous. Wow! She, Charlie, Dale, Pat & extended family are definitely the ones we should look up to. Short of naming this place "Betsy Lion Township," we'll have to be satisfied that she's at the right hand of God... barking orders to him! They don't make 'em today like Betsy Lion; no way, no how.
