Barbara Rose Call

(nee Stagliano) On August 4, 2025, of Washington Twp. Age 81.  Beloved wife of the late David H.  Devoted mother of Gregory Call (Tracy), Jennifer Palmer (Michael), Tricia Call (Jarred) and the late Kristina A. Call.  Loving grandmother of Maura, Nolan, Ryan, Lainey, and Lennon.  Dear sister of Anthony Stagliano (Deanna), Robert Stagliano (Christine), Ronald Stagliano (Linda), and Patricia Porreca (Richard).  Loved by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.   Cherished daughter of the late Anthony and Viola (nee Marsico) Stagliano.

Barbara affectionally known to many as Babs was truly a universal mother and friend to all that knew her. Her life can be encapsulated in Five Favorite “F “words…..Family, Friends, Faith, Food and Fun!  In her 81 years, she sure experienced an abundance of each.

Family:  Her BIG Italian family was her livlihood.  Growing up with her siblings and cousins in Haddon Heights set the foundation for a life rooted in connection.  Holidays at Kings Highway, summers on Bennett Ave in Wildwood, and eventually starting her own family in Whitman Square with her beloved Dave.

She was endlessly proud of her four children and all of their accomplishments and treasured the gift of her 5 beautiful granchildren.

These gatherings with her family filled her heart and gave her purpose.  To her, family wasn’t just about bloodlines, but about loyalty, laughter and love.

The BOND of FAMILY could never be broken, and she carried that belief into every stage of her life.

Friends:  Her extended family were the friendships she built along the way and there were many.  Her childhood best friends, colleagues at PSFS, her Shawnee Road neighbors, her bridge and book club ladies, and eventually her “Merry Widows”, who became her travel companions and co conspirators in adventure and fun.  Hosting friends at her mountain house, where she found quiet peace was one of her greatest pleasures.  If you were friends with her children, her siblings, or her grandchildren, then you were automatically friends with Babs.  Her circle of friends was immense.  Knowing Babs enriched your life and her friendship was GOLD!

Faith:  Babs had an edge and a sharp wit, but her warmth and compassion came through in so many ways.  Her strength and resilience were beyond measure. Life was not always easy for her, but she never let loss or hardship define her.  Instead, she carried her pain with grace and turned toward FAITH.  Her faith was private, personal and deeply rooted.  It gave her strength when life felt fragile and HOPE when the path ahead was uncertain.

Food:  Her Italian upbringing made her not just an incredible cook, but a legendary host.  She carried on her mother’s traditions and shared them graciously with others.  She planned every gathering to perfection and welcomed all to her table to share in good food and great conversation.  Her homemade stromboli, meatballs, gravy, chicken cutlets, biscotti, Easter bread, and Christmas cookies became cherished favorites at family celebrations.  And then, of course, there was Sunday Dinner affectionately dubbed “Hells Kitchen”, where kids and grandkids gathered around the table to eat, laugh, argue and create lasting memories. Her table was more than a place to eat. It was a place to belong.

Fun:  Babs knew how to have FUN!   She loved to travel and explore new places, whether it was a trip to the shore, a scenic mountain escape, or a spur-of-the- moment, getaway.  She did not need a passport to find joy, she found it in the little things ~ a warm cup of tea, a competitive round of Scrabble (which she usually won), a game of bridge or Mahjong with friends, a new book from the library, or the quiet satisfaction of finishing a jigsaw puzzle. She was an avid reader, a list maker, a paperwork lover (yes, really) and always up for a game or a laugh. She brought lightness and humor wherever she went and knew how to make even the ordinary moments feel special.

In every season of her life, Babs lived with passion, heart, and a fierce devotion to the people she loved. She was a force ~ strong, witty, loyal, and full of life. Her legacy lives on in her family, her friendships, her faith, her recipes, and the laughter that still echoes around the dinner table. She gave us more than memories – she gave us a way to live!

Family and friends are invited to attend her viewing Saturday, August 9^th 8:45 – 10:45 am at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 176 Stagecoach Road, Washington Twp.  Mass of Christian Burial 11:00 am.  Interment St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Chews Landing.

In honor of Barbara’s life, in lieu of flowers or other acts of sympathy, her family would encourage donations to the Krissy Call Memorial Scholarship, c/o Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Road, Washington Twp.
