Arthur Alton Simpson passed away on May 22, 2021. Arthur was born August 15, 1937 in Fayetteville North Carolina to his parents Lessie Mae Pone Simpson and The Reverend Jonnie Simpson who was the minister of a Baptist Church. Arthur was the brother of the Reverend Lacey Simpson, William Simpson, Odessa Clark, Lillian Ford, Dr. Hopson Simpson, and Perry Simpson. His father passed away when he was 3 years old and he was raised by his Mother and siblings. Arthur joined the United States Navy in March of 1955 and served his country as he traveled around the world in a submarine. After he left the Navy in July 1958, he moved to Philadelphia with his sister Lillian and his brother William. Here he met Bettie Fisher and was married. In Philadelphia he helped raise Bettie’s brothers and sister Dina Fisher, Larry Fisher, Herman Fisher, and Roger Fisher. He worked for Nabisco for 40 years as both a truck driver and a warehouse manager. Being enterprising he also had a side business as a paint contractor for Poquessing Realtors. We spent many weekends in the 1970’s and 80’s working together in which he taught me his expertise with his craft. Later in life after he retired from Nabisco he purchased and managed the apartment complex that he lived in since 1974. He spent his last few years making new friends at Traditions of Cross Keys in Glassboro, NJ by sharing his experiences with everyone there. He is survived by his son Alton Adrian Simpson, his daughter in law Svatka Simpson, and his grandsons Dean and Wesley Simpson. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations to be made in Arthur Simpson’s honor. These are a few of his favorite charities he has donated to in past: Susan G.
