Antoinette Capaldi
(nee DelPidio) On May 6, 2016 of Washington Twp. Age 85. Beloved wife of the late Angelo. Devoted mother of Annamarie Capladi. Dear sister of Justina DelPidio.
From the day she was born, her father deemed her the special one. She was the only one of six to attend college, thanks to the help of her brothers and sister, who helped pay for her education. She took that gift and paid it forward and made education her mission in life.
Antoinette spent most of her professional career at Woodlynne Public Schools as a classroom teacher, reading specialist, and Learning Disability Teacher Consultant. Her dedication to Woodlynne never wavered and she fought hard to get the help that the students needed to be successful. She was fiercely loyal to her fellow colleagues, who were more like a family than co-workers.
Antionette’s only daughter grew up observing her mother’s dedication to education and followed in her footsteps. Antoinette felt strongly about the importance of an excellent education and was immensely proud when her daughter graduated with honors with her Masters Degree.
Antoinette loved to travel and experience new things. She and her husband, Rocky, traveled up and down the east coast as often as possible during their retirement. Her favorite spot was Myrtle Beach. They both traveled with the Campbell’s Kids retirement group to many places and always looked forward to their casino trips.
In her later years, traveling took a back seat so that she could focus on her health and her need for dialysis. Even there, Antoinette used her skills as an educator and the compassionate, loving person she was, to help and encourage others, befriending them and offering her help as needed.
Antoinette touched many lives in her journey, never asking for anything in return. She will be greatly missed by everyone, but I’m sure she has a huge fan club waiting for her in heaven.
