Annamarie T. Meagher (nee Conway), on March 8, 2016 of Blackwood, NJ. Age 87 years young. Beloved wife of the late Charles A., Sr. Devoted mother of Gary Joseph, Charles A., Jr. (Angela), Thomas Michael (Concetta) and AnnaMarie (Carmen). Loving grandmother of Francesca, Thomas, Anthony and Mikayla. Proud great-grandmother of Julian. Dear sister of Margaret Markiewicz and Elizabeth Rauh.
AnnaMarie is the second of three children born to Margaret and Joseph John Conway. She arrived into their happy home on March 10, 1928. AnnaMarie enjoyed a charmed childhood with her two sisters growing up in south Philadelphia at 2847 Iseminger Street; jokingly referring to that time as “when Philadelphia was a prairie.” Her family memories included being together as a family at night while Daddy played the violin, Mother sang, and she and her sisters sang and played the piano. Together they also enjoyed Sunday car rides, visiting with relatives in the Philadelphia and Lakehurst NJ areas; and being spoiled by Aunt Bessie and Uncle Frank.
AnnaMarie is a proud graduate of Hallahan High School. This is where she learned to be the beautiful woman she grew into, enjoyed academics and also learned to play the clarinet and later the French horn. Wondering why such a tiny little girl of 4’10” would pick such a large instrument to play; she said she didn’t. The sister in the music department assigned it to her, though it did serve as a great seat on the crowded subway to and from school.
Upon graduation from high school she started her work career at Curtis Publishing Company located in center city Philadelphia. This is where she met her lifelong friend Kit and saved enough money, with the help of her parents, to buy her first car; a brand new Oldsmobile from the dealership. Daddy taught her to drive and told her to never let her gas tank get below a half tank or dirt would get in the lines. Being such a dutiful daughter she always remembered what daddy told her. Her gas tank has never gone below a half tank throughout her lifetime.
Annamarie met her husband Charles at a friend’s wedding. They fell in love, married a short time later, and began to have their own family together. They would go on to have four wonderful children whom she cherished. She lived her life for her children from that point forward; keeping them safe from harm and full of love.
As her children grew older she decided it was time for her to return to the workplace. She worked as an aide in the Philadelphia School System until her retirement in 1988. After retirement AnnaMarie enjoyed spending time working on her family geneology and most of all being with and caring for her beautiful grandchildren whom she cherished. She also enjoyed spending time with her own children, spending her summers at the Jersey shore, and most of all attending the theatre with her daughter, two sisters and three nieces on a regular basis. She was recently blessed with a great grandson whom she adored. He looked exactly like her dumpling that she had given birth to some 55 years ago. She loved spending time with him, spoiling him, and most of all filling him up with hugs and kisses.
AnnaMarie has lived a full life and is now enjoying her most beautiful reward for a life well lived. She has been granted her ultimate birthday wish; being reunited with her parents whom she had loved so deeply and has longed for her entire adult life. In her afterlife she is now experiencing their love and companionship which she has been missing for over a half century. Her beautiful earthly life will live on through her children and grandchildren, while she delights in her heavenly afterlife with her parents.
All services and interment will be private at the request of the family.
Condolences may be shared with her family at www.egizifuneral.com.
