Andrew “Andy” Trasferini, 78, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on March 16, 2022.
Andy was the youngest of four boys born on September 18, 1943, to parents Peter and Carmella “Minnie.” The family lived on Blue Bell Road in Franklin Township, New Jersey, where they operated their sweet potato farm until 1968. Andy ultimately built a home on the same road after marrying the love of his life, Laura Jean (Delia) Trasferini. They happily raised their two daughters amongst a cluster of family, including his brothers, who had also built homes nearby. Andy and Jean resided in New Jersey until retiring to Jensen Beach, Florida in 2013.
Andy was a proud graduate of the first class of Delsea Regional High School in 1961. He subsequently took accounting classes and worked as a weighmaster for DunRite Sand and Gravel. Andy found his calling when he began selling appliances and furniture part-time. His warm and engaging personality made him a perfect fit for the sales industry, where he established his career. He worked his way to becoming an award-winning sales representative for Shaw Industries and retired as a regional manager in 2011. He made an innumerable number of friends and acquaintances along the way; they all treasured his sense of humor and friendly smile.
Andy loved to fish in the Delaware Bay every weekend with his older brothers, daughters, nephews, and friends; the Trasferini family even held an annual fish fry to commemorate the end of the fishing season. Andy adored listening to music, especially the Beatles, BeeGees, Genesis, Moody Blues, Dire Straits, and Tears for Fears. He also enjoyed both researching and driving performance cars. However, his greatest passion by far was his family. He was not only a devoted husband and father but also a doting grandfather. He passed down treasured, traditional Italian recipes from his parents’ families and inspired a love of cooking and food in his daughters – so much so that they purchased and briefly operated The Villa Tiella restaurant in Vineland, New Jersey in his later years.
Andy was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 53 years Laura Jean (Delia) Trasferini; parents Peter and Carmella Trasferini, father-in-law James Delia and mother-in-law Nancy Delia; brother John Trasferini, and sisters-in-law, Ann Trasferini and Pauline Trasferini.
He is survived by: daughters Andrea Trasferini-Slown (Adam) and Lauren Procida (Austin); grandchildren Gianna, Cayden, Averie, and Maddox; brothers Albert Trasferini and Richard Trasferini (Judith); and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Family and friends are invited to attend his visitation Saturday 9:00 – 11:00 AM at the Egizi Funeral Home, 119 Ganttown Rd., Washington Twp. Memorial Service 11:00 AM.
